Manahoac Bowmen is an archery club that promotes both target archery and bowhunting. We strive to preserve our bowhunting heritage through securing better hunting privileges and conditions for bowhunters by cooperating with conservation organizations, and working to support local and state legislative proposals that benefit all sportsmen.
The Manahoac Bowmen archery club was formed in 1953 and is the oldest archery club in Virginia. The club had an initial
membership of 6.The name Manahoac was taken from the tribe of Indians who inhabited the area at the time of the colonization of Virginia. The name means They Are Very Merry.
We are chartered through the Virginia Bowhunters Association (VBA) and the International Bowhunters Organization (IBO). Throughout the year we host a number of sanctioned 3-D and field archery tournaments.
Members of other clubs and organizations as well as the general public are welcome.
